Please excuse my rant. I am blue. I am feeling rather dramatic because my emotions are spilling over, heaving in and out…
He-who-shall-not-be-named has a majority government. Sigh. I am deeply disappointed. I need to go to my quiet place and get some happy feelings back. I need a hug! But…I’m proud of the many Canadians who voted and did their civic duty…and equally pleased that the official opposition is orange.
Yet I wish we had Obama — I’m surprised we’re not as progressive as the Americans on that point. If Canada’s healthcare and welfare-state is dismantled in the next four years…then I’m moving to the US sooner than later. Since last night I have solidified my long-held belief that I shall never, will never ever, ever move anywhere near the blue-tory Prairies ever, ever, never. *shake fist* at them! Or Ontario. Complete sadness. There is no justice when even Ken Dryden loses his seat!
Now I’m off to my quiet place to get over this already. It’s been done. I’m resigned. I have to carry on…and I hope with all my heart that my future children have a proper future and he-who-shall-be-named won’t dismantle totally everything. All I can think about right now is the chilling quote from British politician Lord Action:
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
