I ♥ CLASSICAL MUSIC
I absolutely adore classical music. I especially enjoy listening to the symphony orchestra in my city’s gorgeous orpheum. I’m an equal opportunity classical music listener, as I listen to:
* Baroque while studying (perfect maintenance of beta waves)
* Take walks to Mozart (Lacrimosa from Requiem is a favorite, albeit full of despair it’s so beautiful), Beethoven (partial to piano such as Moonlight Sonata, esp. the first movement, although Kempff’s 3rd movement is breathtaking), Liszt (Lang Lang’s Liebestraum), Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 3. and moving pieces (Marin Marais’ La Reveuse, for example), and almost anything played during the wonderous heyday of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra under conductor Charles Dutoit.
Yes, yes, admittedly, none of my favorites are highly original.
But by God, my absolute favorite pieces are two movements in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. One is Concerto No.2 ‘L’Estate’ (Summer) RV315 in G Minor: Presto and the Concerto No. 4 in F minor, Op. 8, RV 297, “L’inverno” (Winter). I can repeat them over and over and over again and am moved each and every time. Really good to listen to during delays at the airport. Really good when cooking too. Really good for all sorts of occasions. Seriously. Enjoy!
