I HEART SHERLOCK
I was never into Sherlock Holmes. I’m sorry. But I wasn’t. Even though when I was little, I had gone to see the play in London about him. I think I fell asleep. Although I do remember the part where he injects himself with…opium? I was baffled.
So, then fast-forward years later to the present, and my lovely friend, who never talks about TV, extolled the virtues of the latest adventures of Sherlock from BBC/PBS, starting Benedict Cumberbatch (brunch!). Season 1’s first episode got me hooked real good. The rest of the the season was alright, but never made me *fist pump* like the first.
Then Season 2’s first episode nearly knocked me over. So, so, good. Hot damn. I wish I was nearly as clever as him, or even Irene Adler. Even though I have a bit of crush on Lestrade (okay, okay, it’s mostly because he played Freddy Honeychurch in Merchant & Ivory’s A Room With a View–only one of my favorite movies ever).
Sorry, Benedict doesn’t do much for me, but he’s brilliant as Sherlock. Holy crap. He’s sooo good. Everyone is really good, except I really don’t like Moriarity — what’s with his accent? Is it American? Scottish? English dialects? What the? It’s irritating and not very good. Yes, he’s good at being insane, though.
Oh boy, now I wish I had a proper English accent now. *sigh*
