☺ Daily Smile | it’s just a little crush

(credit) Acura

Okay, this is my daily smile post. It will not be everyone’s cup of tea. *shrug* It happens. This may seem like a frivolous poof-piece — all commercialism and all that. Maybe it is. Actually, wait, it is.  And I like it.

I am not trying to promote this car….I drive a Toyota, by the way. So why, pray tell, is this a daily smile? *giggle* Well, I’ve seen this ad countless times on the telly…and admittedly, each time, I crush on the man (I would say “guy” — but I like men more than guys, no?) — wait, I mean, the actor who plays the man. Not exactly his looks, but rather more of that non-cocky confidence aura thing – imagine this character — if he was real (if only!) — is educated, intelligent, articulate, responsible, respected in his field of work and at his workplace, kind to all people, respectful of women, knowledgeable about topical things – politics, world and domestic affairs, sports, urban planning, pop culture, music, food, tech; has non-judgy close-knit circle of friends; likes kids and plays with his nieces and nephews; plays pick up basketball, skis, maybe tennis, maybe runs, goes to the gym; cares about the state of the world and is doing something actively to do something about it, such as engaging in civic/social entrepreneurship; and knows himself and is true to himself and his values…and makes sure the woman he loves knows he’ll do anything to keep her safe while admiring her strength and femininity, and is infinitely patient with her willfulness.

The character is all preppy-athletic both in his “work-attire” and “play-attire” modes. Just the way I like. Yes, I said it. And it’s true. You can ask anyone. Most of all, the real one. He knows. And exists. The end.

PS: I also adore the Nick Waterhouse’s song “Say I Wanna Know”and am glad they used it.

Oh, and who is Acura targeted this car to? Men who relate to the character in the ad…or aspire to be him? Or women who imagine driving the same car as him.? Curious. [As you can probably tell from this random Daily Smile….I’m procrastinating from what I’m actually supposed to be doing….and drawing it out as we speak, ha!]
