♡ Become who you are

That is why it is so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose.

People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Don’t expect to get anything back, don’t expect recognition for your efforts, don’t expect your genius to be discovered or your love to be understood.

Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability or arrogance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits in your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, get rid of the dust.

Stop being who you were and become who you are.

I love this song at Christmastime. It’s ridiculous how much I adore singing and dancing around to it…and trust, this song follows you during the holidays. Every year, Mariah makes a fancy-spanshy version of the song, even though the original still holds its weight.

I do, however, love, love, love, this adorable version (above) featuring Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, and Mariah. Bonus, Jimmy is crush-worthy. Bonus, The Roots — oh hell ya. Mariah, or Mimi, is still so much fun to watch doing her octaves and hand frills and fluttery eyelash move. Makes me giggle everytime. Over the top, diva-esque works on her. You go girl!  *snap*

♡ Go after it….like, now!

I have mused about this, what this writer says here…you know, throughout my life. Even with little girl crushes. All the way through adulthood. And then finally you allow yourself to take a breather because your crazy love antics “worked.”

But, there’s too much fronting, too much pride, too much not wanting to look foolish, too much worrying about what other people think! Who are these “other people”?

And who cares? We care. Sense of entitlement. Wanting to be cool. Thinking we’re more important than we are. Or, conversely, fear. Deep, wretching fear.

Sometimes I wish we’d, me included, just wake up already. Will you? There’s a spark that needs to be ignited. Passion. Passion. Passion. There should be more of it in this world of ours, no?
