I ♥ HOT DRINK WEATHER

Finally it hit — the full force of the cold weather. We’ve had an unseasonally warm autumn so far, which has been bliss. But this week, like the snap of the fingers, it became so damn cold.

Shivering. Icy. Windy. Sweaters. Mittens. Black ice on the roads. Heat up high in the car. Hot bubble baths. Chili, Soups, Stews. And lots and lots of hot drinks — teas, coffees, ciders, cocoa.

MY FAVOURITES

My preferences are plain black coffee but only at 49th Parallel or Milano Coffee (all in my hometown), otherwise Starbucks Americanos (with raspberry syrup), Cappuccinos (from any cafe), Chai Tea (with rosewater), Snow Dragon Mint Lattes (peppermint tea, vanilla syrup, steamed milk), Japanese green tea (not matcha), and very good quality jasmine tea

MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE

But my absolute favourite hot drink ever?

It has to be the “Forever Nuts” tea latte from David’s Tea. OMG. The best. I cannot describe how utterly amazing this drink is. It’s earthy, nutty, with a touch of cinnamon. It tastes like roasted almonds and warm fireplaces and cozy blankets.

I request it with soy milk (because they don’t have almond milk) and agave syrup as my sweetener. You order it right in the shop and they steep it for you and steam up the milk for you and put the milky foam on top. OOoohhhhOOOOh. So, so good.

It’s also caffeine-free, so more of a relaxing, comfy drink for the cold weather rather than a morning pick-me-up.

Trust me, it’s amaaaazing. I am not doing it justice, but I’m telling you (unless you have nut-allergies) it is the most taste-buds-exploding, cashmere-sweater-of-a-drink you’ll ever have.

Go get one now!

I HEART FALL CLOTHES

It’s the rich, warm colours and the coziness that makes me crave the clothes we wear during the autumn season. Ambers, chocolates, olives, midnight blues, plums, and scarlet, chartreuse, goldenrod, wine, camel, burgundy, aubergine, oxblood, leopard, and black.

Oh, trenchcoats, boots, scarves, flat-front sneakers, dark jeans, black or charcoal cigarette pants, wool pencil skirts, silk blouses, cashmere, merino wool.

Yes, please.

HELLO OCTOBER

It’s already more than halfway through 2014. Oh my word. Marvelous autumn is here.

Thanksgiving is around the corner (at least in Canada).

Sweaters, wooly scarves, and jeans come out of the closet. Finally, boots.

Coffee and tea taste much better when it’s cooler outside.

Stews, curries, heartwarming soups.

Reds, olives, browns, yellows, emeralds, golds with splashes of greys, navys, and purples.

Hot yoga feels so much more luxurious.

Yay.

ON HOLD

It’s September! I can’t believe it. But sure enough, Starbucks is already serving their Pumpkin Spice Latte. Halloween decorations are already on display in shops. It’s back to school…well, at least for those students in the private school system where I live.

However, in the public schools…we are on strike. I could go into the reasons, but this pretty much sums it up for me best. I am bias in support of the teachers, for good reason. But at this point in the (non-) negotiations, where teachers haven’t been paid their allotted salary since May (!), and students haven’t been given their right to a proper education, I feel how Buzz Lightyear above states.

There seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere.

*Sigh*
