I HEART FOREIGN FILMS

Do you? I have to admit they can be infuriating because often they end open-ended, unlike Hollywood movies. They can be slow and monotonous almost. I get it, I get it. Sometimes they can be a bore. But sometimes they can be surprisingly good. You can even hone your foreign language skills, and get your wanderlust on because they cinematography makes you want to go to whatever country you’re watching.

Here are some of the ones I have really liked (not in any order):

POLISSE

SCENT OF THE GREEN PAPAYA

AMELIE

I AM LOVE

THE GREAT BEAUTY

LADY VENGEANCE

OLDBOY

A ROYAL AFFAIR

HAUTE CUISINE

GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

RUST AND BONE

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON

CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON

INFERNAL AFFAIRS

IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE

BATTLE ROYALE

IMPOSSIBLES

WHY MORGANITE?
My friend makes loving gem essences for spiritual wellness. I wasn’t sure what these essences were, or why I would want one, but I was presented with a bottle of Morganite Gem Essence. (It’s like this or this). My friend carefully explained what these essences do, and why Morganite is the gem for me. After, I felt very pleased and happy to receive an extra dose of Universal Love with my Morganite Gem Essence. Now what exactly is Morganite?

WHAT IS MORGANITE?
Morganite is a pink semiprecious gem from the beryl family. It is considered a powerful, high vibrational, universal stone of unconditional Divine love. It is also known as the “Angel Stone” or “Heart Stone.” It was called Pink Beryl until 1911 when it was renamed after gem collector, J.P. Morgan, by the chief gemologist of Tiffany and Co. It’s currently a popular choice for engagement rings.

WHAT COLOUR IS MORGANITE?
Morganite’s colour is a transparent pink that can come in shades of violet, salmon, or peach. The colour pink is said to temper anger or resentment, and can calm you for meditation and deep reflection. Pink is also the colour of new love, new romance, sensuality, and new relationships. The peachy-shades of pink (those tinged with orange) promote affection, joy, friendship, pleasure, and family.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF MORGANITE?
  • It brings healing, compassion, assurance, determination, and commitment.
  • It improves your self-esteem by bringing in an abundance of love, and infuses you with self-love.
  • It is attuned to the heart and Heart Chakra (energy centre).
  • The stone of fairness. A talisman for meetings where you wish to receive fair treatment.
  • One of Libra’s minor birthstones.

MNEK | READY FOR YOUR LOVE (stripped version)

This stripped version of “Ready For Your Love“* is so, so beautiful. Oh.my.god. So beautiful. LISTEN HERE now. Yes, right now.

You have to listen to it in a quiet space to really feel it move within you. Maybe in your car during a drive home at night. Or through your earbuds while running.

MNEK is a UK singer of Nigerian-descent who is only 19-years-old. I can’t even. 19! Well, he’s a 19-year-old that can sing the sh*t out of this song (that he also co-wrote). I feel really inadequate right now. Sheesh. Seriously, this kid has to blow-up and be heard everywhere.

BECAUSE I LOVE YOU

And that’s why I’m going to let you know that this gorgeous song can be downloaded for FREE on MNEK’s website HERE. Yes, free. You’re welcome.

Now this song is especially poignant if you’re one of those souls who just haven’t gotten it together to realize that your absolutely brilliant partner in front of you is the best thing that has ever happened to you (this includes yourself – you need to love yourself too).

Maybe you’re too weak or scared to give in and open your heart and fully crazy.stupid.love for fear of heartache.

Maybe your pride keeps getting in the way.

Maybe you think there might be the possibility of someone better out there. So foolish.

Whatever the reason that you have not leapt into the risky unknown of deep love (even with yourself), then holy man, STEP UP now. And beware that when you first listen to this song, you may quiver right down to the depths of your soul.

You will definitely have a visceral reaction because the lyrics and emotion will hit a nerve. Especially if you haven’t stepped up for someone, or if you have regretfully settled and not followed your heart, or if your heart is heavy with unbearable loneliness. Caution:

Stars burn bright
Everything is changed between you and I
I was so apprehensive but I don’t know why
Baby I’m ready for you to be by my side, by my side…

I’m ready for your love, I’m ready for your love, I’m ready for your love…

And if they ask me if I am ready? I am ready. If they ask me if I’m ready? I am ready. If they motherf**king ask me if I’m ready?

 I’m ready for your love…

*The non-stripped version is basically the stripped version with dance beats mixed in by Gorgon City. Listen HERE

A BIT OF TV

I don’t watch too much TV. Even when the TV is on, but I’m not necessarily watching it. I watch TV shows or the news, but I don’t watch reality TV. Oh, unless you count the food ones. I don’t necessarily know when my favourite TV shows on are, I usually have to watch it online on the networks, or download. Damn, I wish we had Hulu in Canada!

MY PICKS

It’s a mixed bag, seriously. Here’s what I watch…when I remember (in alphabetical order):

Burn Notice | Downtown Abbey (only Season 1) | Game of Thrones | Glee | Happy Endings | How I Met Your Mother | Law & Order: SVU | New Girl | Scandal | Shameless | Sherlock (BBC)

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! XOXO

Oh yes. The sappy. The mooshy. The saccarine. The precious. The ooey-gooey. Yeah, I love that mooshy stuff…in my own Cappy way. Here are some of my favorite tear-jerker, smiling all up and down all day, tiny love stories from “60 Tiny Love Stories To Make You Smile” which were compiled from this life stories’ site called “Makes Me Think” :

1. TODAY, I OPERATED ON A LITTLE GIRL. She needed O-blood. We didn’t have any, but her twin brother has O- blood. I explained to him that it was a matter of life and death. He sat quietly for a moment, and then said goodbye to his parents. I didn’t think anything of it until after we took his blood and he asked, “So when will I die?” He thought he was giving his life for hers. Thankfully, they’ll both be fine.

2. TODAY , MY DAD IS THE BEST DAD I COULD ASK FOR. He’s a loving husband to my mom (always making her laugh), he’s been to every one of my soccer games since I was 5 (I’m 17 now), and he provides for our family as a construction foreman. This morning when I was searching through my dad’s toolbox for a pliers, I found a dirty folded up paper at the bottom. It was an old journal entry in my dad’s handwriting dated exactly one month before the day I was born. It reads, “I am eighteen years old, an alcoholic who is failing out of college, a past cutter, and a child abuse victim with a criminal record of auto theft. And next month, ‘teen father’ will be added to the list. But I swear I will make things right for my little girl. I will be the dad I never had.” And I don’t know how he did it, but he did it.

3. TODAY, MY 88-YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER AND HER 17 YEAR OLD CAT ARE BOTH BLIND. My grandmother’s guide dog leads my grandmother around the house, which is normal. But lately, he’s been guiding her cat around the house too. When her cat meows, he walks up and rubs against her, and then she follows directly behind him to her food, to the litter box, to the other end of the house for a nap, etc.
